2023 Mock 1.0
(June 12th 2023)
(June 12th 2023)
Easiest pick of the night comes at the consensus #1 overall pick
Generational talent who can pretty much do it all
Will be a nightmare matchup for years to come
Charlotte needs that dominant scorer outside of Lamelo Ball
Best fit for them now, especially after the loss of Miles Bridges last year
Getting a guy who can get it done on both ends of the floor
This is a no brainer based on where the top 2 shake out ahead of them
There is potential for this pick to be traded but Portland should keep it and draft Scoot, who is second best in the class behind Victor Wembanyama
His athleticism and defensive intensity puts him above the rest
Could easily see Houston drafting a point guard as insurance for Free Agency
Amen has incredible upside as a playmaker and defender
Shot is in question, but will be surrounded by guys who want to shoot
Getting a Saddiq Bey replacement and future starting 3Â
Missed the start of the season and came back kind of inefficient
Picked it up to end the season and shows real 3&D potential
Will help out Cunningham and Ivey as an off the ball movement guy
Orlando continues the trend of going with bigger lineups by drafting Walker
Defensive menace, who is an excellent shot blocker and can hold his own on the perimeter
Allows Paolo to run the 3 and gives him extra help defensively
Walker can stretch the floor offensively and improved as the season went on
Pairs Hendricks with Myles Turner to create defensive duo in the paint
Will be a fantastic secondary option with Haliburton, with the ability to score from anywhere on the court
Enjoys the ball in his hands and can create shots on his own off the dribble
Ausuar falling into Washington's lap would be the most ideal thing for the franchise
With an apparent reset button, getting the point guard of the future would be huge here in Ausar
Fantastic defender and finisher around the rim, with great playmaking abilities
Shot is in development but is willing to work on it, and is already a great mid range scorer
Assist numbers don't justify how much he has the ball in his hands and facilitates
Tall and lengthy which can become a factor as a point guard in a good way
Fantastic defender, his strong suit. Defense turns into his transition points
Has no rush to develop with Utah and can turn into the point guard of the future
Gives Luka another scorer next to him that can be trusted from three consistently
Can hold his own defensively but won't be looked at as the primary defender
Loves the corner which will be important with Luka's iso game
Finishes with finesse around the rim and isn't afraid to attack on cuts
Orlando desperately needs shooting on their roster and Hawkins gives you that
Integral part of the National Championship run, will fit right in with this team
Ranked lower on my big board only because of only one skill set
Thunder stacking up on big men to give insurance for Chet Holmgren on the defensive end with size
Fantastic defender with long arms and a solid frame
Lively has shown great improvement in his shot and ability to stretch the floor which is why he has jumped so high
Fits the mold of a Toronto Raptor point guard in the fact of a smaller guard, gritty defender and can shoot
Percentages don't replicate Wallace's ability to shoot from three and the confidence he has in that shot
Playmaking will come to him but showed flashes at UK of good court vision
Canceled all of his other workouts after his workout with the Raptors
Percentages don't show the type of scorer he is after a rough start to his season efficiency wise
Great scorer and will contribute off the bench immediately
Solid enough defender to hold his own and has a good read on passes to be able to jump lanes
Don't look at the stats to judge the player, as he averaged 3 minutes a game until the last stretch of the season
Brings incredible defense and slashing ability as a wing, and can knock down a high percentage of threes especially on catch and shoot attempts
Not knowing DeAndre Hunter's future with the team, Coulibaly could be his replacement or another great piece to have come off the bench
This pick could be traded so I don't expect Utah to be picking here, but if so, I don't see an issue doubling down on guard this draft
Much different player than Black (picked 9th) as Bufkin is more of a scoring guard with shooting ability and great form
Brings great defensive energy as well and would be a steal here for Utah
Picking for upside here for the Lakers and to have another one of those potential springs eventually, but can easily see this pick being traded on draft night
Miller brings great defense to this already defensive minded Darvin Ham coached team
Interior scoring ability allows him to win smaller matchups
With Gabe Vincent set to his Free Agency and an expected upgrade at PG, taking an upside and potential pick of Nick Smith Jr is something to consider
Disappointing return after injury for Smith, but was one of the top guys at the start of the season in early draft rankings
Electric scorer and can get really hot from three quick, solid defender but again just needs time to develop
Fits right into the mold of a Golden State Warrior player
Hits and shoots a high volume of threes, especially loves shooting off of screens which falls right into the Warriors play style
Okay defender, will need improvement on footwork. Not much playmaking, but is mainly looked at as your catch and shoot spark plug
After drafting Amen at 4, you need to surround him with more scoring, and Sensabaugh is all about that
Can score at any level, but loves his dribble pull ups and catch and shoot threes
Not much of a defender at the moment but drafting him would be as an offensive threat rather than an all around player
JHS could easily go before this pick, as everyone else is much higher on him than I am
But if he does drop, this would be a great landing spot
Great mid range scorer and facilitator, with high motor on the defensive end
Would be great behind Dinwiddie (if he is still there) or if starting, his style will work with the way Mikal Bridges likes to play
McDonalds All-American MVP, former top recruit, but just had another surgery before the age of 20
Outside of that concern, Whitehead is a fantastic prospect who loves to shoot and attack 1 on 1 matchups
Very good defender with a good build that allows him to not get tossed around
With Brooklyn not contending yet, this is a great pick for the future and plays a similar style to Mikal Bridges
You just drafted Scoot, so why not go ahead and pick up his teammate from the G League Ignite
Going to provide great defense from day one, and is a lob threat at the 2/3 position
Shot is okay right now, but will end up developing it I believe
Solid piece to bring off the bench early on for defensive impact and his athleticism
Why not just get both of them?
Twin brother of Keegan, who is already a King, both play very similar to one anotherÂ
Kings need more wing depth and Kris can catch and shoot and play defense so why not bring him in to keep it in the family
Even though I don't think the Grizzlies keep this pick, as a fan, I've changed the prospect selected ten times already
O-Max is a big lengthy forward that can guard 1-4 and can hold his own with the big men
Fast and loves to push out in transition, great cutter and can finish around the rim at a high level
Will only be a catch and shoot corner guy in the NBA but that fits the Grizzlies play style but the shot is smooth and has been improving
Ideal Brandon Clarke replacement with the style of play he brings to the team
This was my other potential Grizzlies pick, but I think he deserves to go to a team that will be patient with his development
Bobi is a tall lengthy guy who can stretch the floor, block shots and shown some post play
Gained traction playing for Sweeden, and his college stats don't reflect his abilities
Will need to get more consistent and put on some mass to not be bullied but Indiana would be a great fit for him to develop in
Can play both on and off the ball which would be beneficial playing next to Lamelo Ball
Great playmaker but will be prided on his 3&D ability and potential
Can shoot off the dribble really well but also excels at catch and shoot threes
With Terry Rozier potentially on the move, Jones would be a great guy to slot in for the future
After taking two guards who can defend well and facilitate, why not grab them a wing who can score alongside them
Lewis is a great scorer who loves to get to his spots and knows how to get there
Decent defender, will need improvements but is serviceable immediately
Questions on consistency throughout the season and the level of play he played against, despite playing well against tournament teams
I don't think Indy will be taking this many players in the draft, but if they do pick here, out of the guys left, you gotta go with Jackson
Former top recruit, reclassified and played last year in college as a high school senior
Has all the tools to be a really good player but just isn't fully ready yet
Indiana, again, has the time to work with him in which he could be a great scoring guard or wing in the future
Clowney could go as high as 17, or as low as the second round
LA getting him here would be great for them
Brings high energy, rebounding and good finishing around the rim
Okay defender who needs to stay out of foul trouble, but overall is a good prospect
